The Highschool- Janata Uchhatar Madhyamik Vidhyalaya was established in 1998.
(GRAMYA) has completed 25 years on May, 08, 2023. On this special occasion, we can proudly claim that the organization has transformed the remote village of Dumak using education as a tool. In 1998, there were only 12 people in this village who had gone to school beyond grade-8 (eight years of schooling), as there was no secondary school in the radius of 30KM of the village. Moreover, many children especially girls were out of school in this village. The GRAMYA provided neighborhood secondary school- Janta Uchattar Madhyamik Vidhyalaya to this small village located far in the mountains without any motor road connectivity. Even today the nearest motor road from this village is one full day mountain walk.
For about more than a decade, the school was funded by villagers, few well wishers and supporters. Currently, the state government supports the salary cost of four teachers and one non-teaching staff. This hard work and active participation of villagers has educationally transformed the village. Today the village has 100% enrollment up to secondary schools. Moreover, most students prefer to continue their education after class-10. This school has also helped girl children access school without any hassle. Today, no girl child below 15 years in the village is out of school.
